Harold and Billie Chappelear

Harold and Billie Chappelear

Dr. Harold Chappelear and his wife, Billie, became members of the Legacy Society when they made a bequest to benefit the School of Pharmacy. When asked about why he made such a generous gift to the school he said "Churchill reminded us that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life with what we give. A pharmacy education has permitted our being intimately involved in a noble profession: healthcare. That profession has also provided the necessary income to effectively cover our cost of living. However, our life really began when we made the decision to give back. What a feeling of satisfaction."

The most popular way to give is by leaving a bequest in your will. Many of our alumni and friends, like the Chappelears, have discovered that bequests are the simplest and most flexible way to focus on current financial obligations while still giving back to the School of Pharmacy.

For more information about making a bequest to benefit the School, or other planned gifts, please contact the Office of Planned Giving: 410-706-2069.
